're coming back to court at a later date? we will discuss that. >> that's a big question right now. >>> let's start with this. first, runway collision between two jets in boston last night. nearly 300 people on board and two delta jets preparing for takeoff from logan international. both departures to an abrupt stop stop. >> reporter: both planes were preparing to take off when this collision happened. no one seriously injured. the passengers we talked with say they felt a jolt and that was pretty shocking but, overall, everyone remained calm. it happened about 7:40 thursday evening. the wing of delta flight 266 a jumbo jet, clipped the tail of a delta commuter flying atlantic southeast flight 1904 heading for raleigh, north carolina. those in the cockpit remained calm. >> going to have to wait here for a moment. i think we hit the r.j. off of her left with our wing. >> reporter: the planes were on taxiways that run nearly perpendicular to each other. the 76. was moving. the smaller plane was stationary and received the most damage as the left wing of the la

. >> really big shock. it was a really big shock. >> reporter: the commuter jet which was heading to north carolina suffered major damage to its tail and horizontal stabilizer and the collision came as a rude awaken for one of its passengers. >> i was half asleep. the next thing you know there is a bang. and we all wondered what happened. the pilot came on and said we've been clip bedity plane behind us. >> reporter: even the air traffic controller on duty could not believe what happened. >> did he hit you with his tail, with his wing? >> absolutely he did. >> reporter: a similar incident happened in april at new york's jfk airport when a large air france a-380 hit the tail of a much smaller jet giving it a traumatic spin. an investigation is under way to determine what caused this delta flight to ram into the jet in boston. but for now, passengers are praising delta staffers for their response to the incident. >> i think they responded pretty well. they told us everybody remain calm and they will have somebody come out and take care of us quickly and asked if anybody was hurt. luckily mos

. is that realistic at this point. >> well, in terms of getting that big agreement, it looks highly unlikely at this point, but certainly as you pointed out, the president joking that his campaign was built on hope and change. it will be interesting to see if that hope will also win out in this debate. but, look, what the president is pushing for still is the biggest deal possible. he acknowledged, though, that it's hard to do that, but nonetheless, he has been telling congressional lawmakers during negotiations all this week that if they can't get the biggest deal possible to attack the problem of the debt and the deficit over the long term, then they should still be ambitious. >> we are obviously running out of time, and so what i have said to the members of congress is that, you need over the next 24 to 36 hours to give me some sense of what your plan is to get the debt ceiling raised through whatever mechanisms they can think about and show me a plan in terms of what you're doing for deficit and debt reduction. if they show me a serious plan, i am ready to move. even if it requires some

know who you can call to get a cab. i am a big believer in pedestrian bicycling as options to get around town. many cities in the world have far more people working or on bicycles into blocking or on bicycles. they are pleasant most of transit and are efficient. -- many cities in the world have far more people walking or on bicycles. they are pleasant and efficient forms of transportation. that will take cars off the road and make it easier for those who drive. if we want to create a world- class transportation system, we have to make a commitment to each of these modes of transit to allow us to move where we need to go. >> is it safe for pedestrians on the streets? >> it is not. in recent years, we have had too many pedestrian accidents. there are estimates it costs our cities several hundred millions a year because of traffic accidents, injuries, and fatalities. i am asking one of our transit agencies to study where we're spending our dollars around the district and whether we invested more money would help to reduce our overall costs that come when a pedestrian is hit by a car.
